THE FOUNDERS OF THE PROJECT:

Khaled Youssef

Khaled Youssef was born in Damascus and lives in Nice, France. He is a photographer, a poet and an art-lover by passion, yet a surgeon by profession.

In his work as a photographer and poet, Khaled does not seek complexity, but rather impalpable beauty and poetry. With his ‘Poetography’ work of art, Khaled combines poetry with photography in a unique manner: he associates his own photographs with his own poetry, or poetic prose from authors he admires or knows personally.

Khaled’s poetry book ‘Murmures’ (Whispers) is the witness of a love story between the French language and the spirit of the Middle-East. He takes the reader on an emotional journey through inspiring words, and pulsing feelings. So many moments of daily life that make us dream life.

Besides that, Khaled dedicates himself to the management of the ‘Syria Art – Syrian Artists’ Facebook page, and the ‘Creative Havens: Syrian Artists And Their Studios’ project, for which he is responsible for the whole photography, video and interview sessions with the artists at their studios.

With equal enthusiasm Khaled is also devoting himself to art promotion & art curatorials for the Syrian Art. As an art curator he dedicates himself activaly to assisting art organizations, institutes or galleries which share our vision and passion for the Syrian Art, for the organisation and implementation of international art projects, such as art exhibitions, forums, symposiums, or even interviews of Syrian artists for diverse magazines or Websites.

Danii Kessjan

Danii Kessjan is a French native living in Trier, Germany. Having always had a strong penchant for the arts, she is an art-lover and a collage artist by passion, yet a translator by profession.

Experimenter and artistic researcher at the same time, she has developed a unique artistic style utilising the medium of digital collage with specific layering techniques. As an artist she thinks art is the place of perfect freedom and this is the way she feels while creating her art.

Danii’s passion for the arts has led her to come closely involved with the Syrian Art, which has become her number one passion.

A project always starts with a clear vision ‒ Both the ‘Syria Art – Syrian Artists’ and ‘Creative Havens: Syrian Artists And Their Studios’ projects have been initiated and implemented by Danii, starting with a bright vision and following with an univocal motivation: “Opportunities don’t happen, we create them”.

Bold results always require a unified vision ‒ Owing to the passionate collaboration of Humam and Khaled, the projects could have been successfully realized. Danii is extremely thankful for Humam’s and Khaled’s friendships, and for them being such amazing, talented and inspiring friends through the years.

Among many other things, Danii also dedicates herself to the management of the ‘Syria Art – Syrian Artists’ Facebook page, and the ‘Creative Havens: Syrian Artists And Their Studios’ project. Besides being the webmaster of the ‘Creative Havens’ Website, she is also responsible for the drafting, editing and publishing of texts, as well as for the French and English translation works.

Humam Alsalim

Humam is an architect and an art-lover. He was born in Damascus, Syria, where he still lives.

His passions include literature, music, culture, architecture, and of course the arts, and more specifically the Syrian Art.

Besides the ‘Syria Art – Syrian Artists’ Facebook page, Humam also manages an online art gallery, the ‘Cyrrus Gallery – Contemporary Syrian Art’.

The ‘Syria Art – Syrian Artists’ Facebook page has become the most significant archives of its kind for the Syrian Art on the Internet. It is nowadays undoubtedly the most popular and successful online archival records on the Syrian Art and the Syrian Artists. Its popularity has increased steadily since it has been launched in 2012, and with each passing day, it gains increasing public support.

Some of the artists showing at ‘Cyrrus Gallery’ are unknown outside of Syria, not only to the international public but also to the international commercial art world. In this effect, ‘Cyrrus Gallery’, not only operates as a promoter for the Syrian Art, but also as a springboard for young Syrian artists to launch their careers on an international level.

Among other things, Humam is also devoting himself to art promotion & art curatorials for the Syrian Art. As an art curator he dedicates himself to assisting art organizations, institutes or galleries which share our vision and passion for the Syrian Art, for the organisation and implementation of international art projects, such as art exhibitions, forums and symposiums.
