What is your relationship to your studio? What does your studio represent to you? How do you feel when you are in your studio?
Each person has a message and a reason to be in this world. My own message is Love, a kind of missive sent to Humanity. And in order to write a word or a line in this missive, I have to be in an inspiring place where I can put together all my memories and hopes… and this place is my studio.
The studio helps me liberate my colours as to express many emotions, it is my own special world where my soul takes a rest and find a beautiful way to reveal my true self.
Obviously, my presence in any place expressing the beauty of Art, like a gallery or another artist’s studio, can inspire me too, and offers me positive feelings and emotions.
Do the layout, the organisation and the location of your studio have an influence on the creation of your works? What role do that space, time and solitude have on your work?
In my studio there is a kind of organised disorder; usually I am organised, but when I start drawing I cannot worry anymore to take care of organisation: I love to see my pencils be totally free.
My actual studio is a part of my private home. I tried to create it close to my family, not only for me but also for my family members, to have a place for contemplation and evasion. Most of my children and also their father are artists too, here I am between them, and meanwhile I can reintegrate my own world anytime I want to.
Do you listen to music in your studio? Do you work better with some music in your ear or do you need complete silence when you are at your most creative?
Music is a part of my materials, like my pencils and the colours. Each painting gets a musical history which depends of the time and my state of mind when the artwork has been accomplished. Music is my companion and the messenger of my emotions to my paintings.
What your art is about?
As I said before, Love is my message. Love as a basic value and instinct of the human beings before the pollution of societies. It is the real beauty and the proof of existence of life. Who may stop in front of one of my paintings can feel my love, and this is what my message is all about.
Being an artist is hard work. Do you have sometimes doubts and struggles?
I am very lucky that God gave me this talent and this capacity of painting which brings me to a calm and peaceful state of mind.
What inspires you?
Maybe this deep sadness which appears in the details of my painting’s heroes. I do not hate that sadness; I even like it, because any expression must go out from a real internal wound to be the base of creation.
Do you ever regret becoming an artist? Where does your energy come from?
I think that an artist is more sensitive and influenceable than other people are, even though that this quality might contain a difficulty in the quotidian life. All circumstances push an artist to express his emotions. Each artist gets different sources of inspiration and creation, mine is a deep sadness, and nonetheless I am glad to express it in my art.
How much satisfaction do you get in response of your work?
I never see a limit to my ambition. I feel myself always full of new ideas and new feelings to offer through art.
Has the conflict that is raging in Syria since a few years had an impact on the core element of your art? What has changed?
Syria, my homeland and my big love is living such painful issues, and I try to share this pain, which also impacts involuntary my colours. My last artworks are called “Damascus” and “Aleppo” and they are among my best artworks, and among the closest ones to my soul.
You are living outside of Syria, has the place you are living in changed your art?
I am living in the UAE, it is my second country, which is a beautiful one giving me energy to work and to become distinguished. But Syria still remains the most beautiful place on earth with its wonderful nature. An artist has this great capacity to integrate any place he wants to because creation is his first target.
What are your hopes and dreams for yourself as an artist and especially as a Syrian artist?
There are no limits to my dreams. I hope that my art will be understood and will touch more people to draw happiness onto their souls. I hope that my message of Beauty and Love will be released. Love is emotion, nostalgia, colour, movement… it is a spiritual purification and a reason to be alive, and the only way to make this world a better place.
١- ما علاقتك مع الاستوديو؟ ماذا تمثل لك هذه الورشة الفنية؟ و ما هو إحساسك عندما تكون داخلها؟
لكل انسان رسالة في هذا العالم الانساني ،ورسالتي انا هي «الحب »،ولكي اكتب كلمة او سطرا في هذه الرسالة يجب ان تكون من مكاني المريح والملهم والذي أجمع فيه كل ذكرياتي وامنياتي وهو مرسمي .
يساعدني على إطلاق العنان لألواني وريشتي لتعبر كما تشاء ،هو عالمي الخاص وفيه ترتاح روحي وتجد الطرق الجميلة بحرية وأشعر به بكياني ومن اكون .
ومن الطبيعي ان يكون تواجدي في اي مكان يحمل الفن والجمال إن كان صالة عرض او مرسم اصدقائي الفنانين فهو يلهمني ويشعرني بانني في المكان الاحب الى نفسي .
٢-هل تنظيم او فوضوية الورشة تؤثر على عملك؟ هل محيط الفأناورشة، مكانها و المسافة بينها و بين مكان إقامتك تؤثر على نتائج عملك؟ ما هو دور هذا المكان و الوحدة و الوقت في فنك؟
في مرسمي أحب الفوضى المنظمة فأنا بطبيعتي مرتبة ولكنني عندما أرسم لا أجد مكاناَ للاهتمام بالترتيب بقدر ما أحب أن تكون ريشتي حرة وطليقة .
ومرسمي الحالي هو جزء من بيتي حاولت ان أوجده بين أسرتي ليكون أيضاً مكان لهم للتأمل والشعور بالجمال دائماً وخاصة ان اغلب أولادي فنانين على درجة عالية .فقد نشأوا بين ابوين فنانين .
فأنا بينهم وايضا مع عالمي في أي وقت أريد .
٣-هل تستمع الى الموسيقى في ورشة عملك؟ هل تفضل العمل في السكون ام ان نوع الموسيقى التي قد تسمعها قد تؤثّر على ابداعك؟
الموسيقى أداتي المهمة كما هي ألواني وريشتي ولكل لوحة عندي حكاية مع موسيقاها وهذا يرجع لزمان اللوحة والحالة
المرافقة لها وعلى اساسها يكون اختيار ما أسمع …فهي شريكتي الدائمة وحاملة لمشاعري الى اللوحة .
٥-عن ماذا يريد ان يعبّر فنك؟
دائما رسالتي هي «الحب» الحب بمعناه العظيم الذي فُطر عليه كل البشر قبل التلوث الذي أصاب معظمهم ،فالحب غذاء الروح واستمرارية الحياة وجمالها فمن وقف امام ألواني واستشعر جمالها يكون قد وصله حبي وهذه هي رسالتي ( حب –جمال ـ-حب)-
٦- ان تكون فناناً هو شيء صعب في أيامنا هذه، هل لديك أحياناً شكوك أو حواجز نفسية؟
أنا محظوظة بأن الله اعطاني هذه المَلَكة العظيمة التى تحمِلي على الراحة والسكون والسلام مع النفس.
٧-هل ندمت يوماً على كونك فناناً محترفاً؟ و من أين تأتي طاقتك الفنية و حماسك للعمل؟
كوني فنانة فربما انا عرضة للتأثر بما حولي أكثر من الآخرين …هذا جيد وصعب في آن معاَ لأنه يحمّل الفنان أعباء نفسية كبيرة ولكنها تدعمه بتعبيره فليس هناك فنان لا يوجد لديه ما يدفعه منذ الطفولة للإبداع والتعبير الخلاق ،ولم اندم يوماً على هذا ولو كان مصدري الأول هو حزني الدفين فأنا فرحة به .
٨- إلى أيّ مدى أنت راضٍ عن إنتاجك الفني؟
دائما لا حدود لطموحي وأرى الإجمل وأشعر أنني مليئة بالجديد .
٩-بالنسبة للظروف الحالية في سوريا و منذ عدة سنوات، هل أثّرَ هذا على عملك؟ ماذا تغير ؟
سوريا بلدي وحبيبتي وتعيش الألم وانا بدوري أتألم وهذا الألم يتسلل لألواني وريشتي إن شأت أم أبيت .وأعمالي المنجزة مؤخراً كانت بعنوان « شام » و «حلب »وهي من أجمل اعمالي وأقربهم الى روحي .
١٠- أنت تعيش خارج سوريا، هل أثّر بلد أو مدينة إقامتك على إنتاجك الفني؟
في الامارات بلدي الثاني أشعر بالطاقة دائما فهي بلد جميل وتدفع بالكل للعمل والتمييز ،رغم ان بلدي الأم وبيئتي هي الاجمل بطبيعتها الملهمة والتي هي المكان الافضل لأي فنان ولكن دائما الفنان يجد نفسه في أي وسط اتيح له لانه لا يعرف غير الابداع ثم الابداع .
١١- ما هو مصدر أو مصادر إلهامك؟
ربما هو حزني الدفين والذي أشعر به يخرج من ملامح كل شخصياتي التي ارسمها ،وانا لا أكره هذا الحزن بل أحبه لان اي تعبير يجب ان يخرج من جوارح حقيقية تلهم اي فنان وتكون الحجر الاساس لأي بنيان .
١٢-ما هي أحلامك و أمنياتك، كفنان بشكل عامّ و كفنان سوري بشكل خاصّ؟
احلامي ليس لها حدود وأمنياتي أن تصل ريشتي الممزوجة بالحب الي كل من يفهمها وان ترسم أي نوع من أنواع الفرح علي ملامح كل متلقي ،فرسالتي هي الحب والجمال وأحب ان أنشره في كل مكان ، فالحب «احساس وشوق ولون وحركة وسكون » وبالحب تصفى الروح وتترفع ،ومع الحب تستمر الحياة وتتجمل .
