What is your relationship to your studio? What does your studio represent to you?
Each artist has his own dreams and thoughts, the studio for me is the space that freezes time in a place, and it is the port that docks on it the ships of experiences and dreams, including feelings. It carries the lessons and conclusions of Science and Arts, which translate each time an artistic product, such as a painting or an engineering work.
Do the layout, the organization and the location of your studio have an influence on the creation of your works? What role do that space, time and solitude have on your work?
Organization for me is one of the most important steps in the methodology of building a painting. In many times the painting is a way to solve a problem or several problems at once, the most its analysis is organized, and the easiest it is to find its solutions. Very often my studio has been situated inside my place of residence; painting for me is a shelter and is like a close friend, who accompanies me on all paths of my life. Certainly, the closest the distance between my place of residence and the studio, the easiest the quantity of production and edition, and the deepest the focus.
Do you listen to music in your studio? Do you work better with some music in your ear or do you need complete silence when you are at your most creative?
Life is a melody which seeps through the five senses, painting stimulates the senses through visual music and tones, and also music nourishes the soul through audible colours, so it is the eternal motive and continuous inspiration of emotions and feelings.
What are your artistic practice and your working process?
Each painting is part of a project of lifetime stories, a solution for many issues on the individual and social levels. Most often I filled the background of the painting in black, which symbolizes the big space that contains everything, and then I highlight the elements of subjects according to the circumstances and cases.
What your art is about?
You can consider my work as a mirror that reflects the contradictions of reality, with a suitable addition to the concept of Love and Hope.
Being an artist is hard work. Do you have sometimes doubts and struggles?
Art is the result of hope and suffering. It is becoming harder when the artist tries to satisfy all tastes through his art, painting happens then to lose its artistic privacy. This is the reason why I treat the paintings and designs with honesty and transparency, to express my opinions and to be able to see myself from the inside and the outside.
As an artist, where does your energy come from?
Art and life are an integrated unit, all kinds of arts were and still are the mirror of nations, and a witness of civilisations through the movements of History.
How much satisfaction do you get in response of your work?
Self-realization is very difficult, especially when emotion meets with logic, time with experience. So I think that the perseverance in any field is a formula for formats of perfection.
Has the conflict that is raging in Syria since a few years had an impact on the core element of your art?
Everyone is affected by the bloody events taking place in Syria, it was very painful to see all this destruction, and I hope that this crisis will end soon.
If you have travelled outside of Syria, have the places you have visited changed your art?
I adore travelling, each country I visited left in my memories unique moments, which certainly had an influence on my life and my career. I loved Spain and Hungary, Turkey and Beirut and I profoundly love my mother city, Damascus (Jasmine).
What inspires you?
The source of inspiration is the reality with all its fractions, and it keeps moving to the final image for each stage of life.
What are your hopes and dreams for yourself as an artist and especially as a Syrian artist?
I am working to achieve a private signature on the technical level in art and architecture, to contribute, together with my colleagues, to the reconstruction of Syria in the future, and to expand my work both on the local and the global levels.
١- ما علاقتك مع الاستوديو؟ ماذا تمثل لك هذه الورشة الفنية؟ و ما هو إحساسك عندما تكون داخلها؟
لكل فنان أحلامه و خواطره , الاستوديو بالنسبة لي هو الفراغ الذي يتجمد عنده الإحساس بالزمان و المكان , فهو الميناء الذي ترسو فيه سفن التجارب و الأحلام بما حملت من مشاعر و دروس و خلاصات العلوم و الفنون التي تترجم في كل مرة كنتاج فني يترجم بلوحة أو عمل هندسي .
٢-هل تنظيم او فوضوية الورشة تؤثر على عملك؟ هل محيط الورشة، مكانها و المسافة بينها و بين مكان إقامتك تؤثر على نتائج عملك؟ ما هو دور هذا المكان و الوحدة و الوقت في فنك؟
التنظيم بالنسبة لي أحد أهم الخطوات المتبعة في منهجية بناء لوحة ، ففي العديد من الأوقات تكون اللوحة محاولة لحل مشكلة أو عدة مشاكل في آن واحد , فكلما كان تحليل الواقع منظما” كان الحل متكاملا” أكثر . في العديد من الأحيان كان الاستوديو جزءا” من مكان إقامتي , الرسم بالنسبة لي الملجأ و الصديق الأقرب الذي يرافقني في جميع دروب حياتي , بالتأكيد كلما كانت المسافة بين مكان الإقامة و الاستوديو أقرب كان الانتاج أغزر و العمل و التعديل عليه أسهل و التركيز فيه أكبر .
٣-هل تستمع الى الموسيقى في ورشة عملك؟ هل تفضل العمل في السكون ام ان نوع الموسيقى التي قد تسمعها قد تؤثّر على ابداعك؟
الحياة عبارة عن لحن يتسرب للنفس عبر الحواس الخمسة ، فكما الرسم يغني المخزون البصري بألحان مرئية كذلك الموسيقى تروي النفس بألوان مسموعة ،فهي محرك الإلهام و العواطف الدائم و غذاء الروح ..
٤- ما هي طريقة عملك و خطواته؟ هل تخطط لفكرة معينة ام تترك الفكرة تأتي وحدها من خلال العمل؟
كل لوحة هي مشروع و جزء من مسيرة حياة كاملة تعالج العديد من القضايا بمستوى الفرد و المجموعة ، غالبا” ما ابدأ بتأسيس اللوحة باللون الأسود الذي أرمز فيه إلى الفراغ الذي يحوي كل شيء و أقوم بإضاءة العناصر المراد إبرازها حسب الظرف و الموضوع .
٥-عن ماذا يريد ان يعبّر فنك؟
يمكنك اعتبار أعمالي كمرآة تعكس الواقع بتناقضاته مع إضافة صياغة تشكيلية مناسبة لمفهوم المحبة والأمل.
٦- ان تكون فناناً هو شيء صعب في أيامنا هذه، هل لديك أحياناً شكوك أو حواجز نفسية؟
الفن وليد الآمال و الآلام التي تترشح لتشكل لوحة ، تزداد المعاناة عندما يحاول الفنان إرضاء جميع الأذواق من خلال فنه مما يفقد اللوحة في كثير من الأحيان الصبغة الذاتية للفنان , لذلك أتعامل مع اللوحة و تصاميمي بصدق و شفافية عاليتين لأعبر عن ذاتي و لأتمكن من رؤية نفسي من الداخل و الخارج .
٧-هل ندمت يوماً على كونك فناناً محترفاً؟ و من أين تأتي طاقتك الفنية و حماسك للعمل؟
الفن و الحياة وحدة متكاملة , فالفنون بأنواعها كانت و لازالت مرآة الشعوب و الحضارات عبر التاريخ .
٨- إلى أيّ مدى أنت راضٍ عن إنتاجك الفني؟
تحقيق الذات أمر صعب جدا ، خصوصا عندما تجتمع العاطفة مع المنطق , و الزمن مع الخبرة مع ذلك أعتقد أن المثابرة بأي مجال هي صيغة من صيغ الكمال .
٩-بالنسبة للظروف الحالية في سوريا و منذ عدة سنوات، هل أثّرَ هذا على عملك؟ ماذا تغير ؟
الجميع تأثر للأحداث الدامية التي تحصل في سوريا , كان من المؤلم جدا رؤية كل هذا الدمار , آمل أن تنتهي هذه الأزمة قريبا”.
١٠- أنت تعيش خارج سوريا، هل أثّر بلد أو مدينة إقامتك على إنتاجك الفني؟
أنا أعشق السفر , كل بلد قمت بزيارته زرع في ذكرياتي أوقاتا” فريدة بالتأكيد أثرت على مسيرتي الفنية أحببت إسبانيا و هنغاريا و تركيا و بيروت و بالتأكيد مدينتي الأم دمشق ( الياسمين )
١١- ما هو مصدر أو مصادر إلهامك؟
مصدر إلهامي هو الواقع بكل جزئياته و مفاصله وإليه تمضي الصورة النهائية لكل مرحلة حياتية متجددة
١٢-ما هي أحلامك و أمنياتك، كفنان بشكل عامّ و كفنان سوري بشكل خاصّ؟
أعمل على تحقيق بصمة ما ذات خصوصية على الصعيد الفني و المعماري لأساهم مع زملائي في إعادة إعمار سوريا مستقبلا” و توسيع دائرة أعمالي على الصعيد المحلي و العالمي .
